NCI SPORE Grants

A big step towards progress in pancreatic cancer was the initiation of Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPOREs) in pancreatic cancer in 2002.  Using an interdisciplinary team approach, a domestic public or private, for-profit or not-for-profit institution can apply for a SPORE grant worth 2.75 million dollars for up to five years. This is additional money toward pancreatic cancer research and an extremely important step towards increasing the overall funding pool for this disease.
