Survivor
and Caregiver Network
PanCAN's
Survivor and Caregiver Network is comprised of volunteers throughout
the country who are available to communicate one-on-one with those
diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, their loved ones, or anyone looking
to connect with someone who has experienced pancreatic cancer. The
volunteers consist of pancreatic cancer survivors, as well as caregivers,
who have provided their contact information to be given out through
the Patient and Liaison Services (PALS) program. Contact can be
made via phone or email and serves as an invaluable source of encouragement,
support, and inspiration.
The
Survivor and Caregiver Network works like this: an individual diagnosed
with pancreatic cancer or their loved one requests to speak with
a survivor or caregiver. The PALS Associate then provides information
about several volunteer survivors or caregivers in the Network.
The information given about a volunteer may include: name, contact
information, state of residence, patient diagnosis and treatment
history.
This
one-on-one contact with volunteers can serve as an incredible source
of hope and inspiration.
