The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Appoints American University Professor Dr. Stevan Holmberg to Board of Directors

EL SEGUNDO, CA – (February 22, 2008) – The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the only national organization with a comprehensive plan to advance research, support patients and create hope in the pancreatic cancer community, today announced the appointment of Dr. Stevan Holmberg to the organization’s board of directors. Dr. Holmberg is a Professor in the Kogod School of Business at American University in Washington, DC and teaches in the area of strategic management; strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions; and entrepreneurship and is Chair of the Management Department. Dr. Holmberg lost his wife, Margie to pancreatic cancer on April 4, 2007 after a 13 month battle with the disease.

“We are delighted to welcome Steve to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s board of directors,” stated Jason Kuhn, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Chairman of the Board. “Steve’s wealth of business knowledge and strategic management insights, in addition to his experience with other non-profit organizations, will be a valuable asset to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network as we continue to raise our voice for the pancreatic cancer community.”

“The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network was a great resource for my family during Margie’s battle with the disease and I am honored to join the organization in this new capacity,” Dr. Holmberg said.

About the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network
Founded in 1999, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is the only national organization creating hope in a comprehensive way through research, patient support, community outreach and advocacy for a cure. The organization raises money for direct private funding of research – and advocates for more aggressive federal research funding of medical breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network fills the void of information and options by giving patients and caregivers reliable, personalized information they need to make informed decisions. And, by helping individuals and communities across the country work together to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for pancreatic cancer.
