Public Policy

Did you know that the majority of pancreatic cancer research is funded by the federal government and that your U.S. Senators and Representatives have a say in how much gets spent on all medical research? It’s true! Each year, Congress makes decisions about how much of the federal budget to devote to medical research, including pancreatic cancer research. PanCAN actively fights for more research funding by educating Members of Congress about pancreatic cancer and our critical need for more research into this disease.

PanCAN also recognizes that while we need to concentrate our efforts on finding early detection methods and a cure, there are other issues that impact pancreatic cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, families and friends. Therefore, we also sit on many national cancer committees to voice the needs of the pancreatic cancer community with regards to issues such as research development, insurance, clinical trials, palliative care and drug approval.

There are many ways in which you can join us in our fight. Take a look at the Public Policy section of our website to learn more about our issues and visit the Take Action Now! section to learn specific ways in which you can help in these efforts.
