2008 Pancreatic Cancer Advocacy Day Huge Success!
The 2008 Pancreatic Cancer Advocacy Day that was held earlier this week in Washington DC was a huge success!!! Over 220 advocates from all over the country attended the event and met with their Members of Congress and another 620 people participated in our “National Call-in”. This was a 25% increase in both number of calls and number of participants over last year! Between the visits and the over 1,300 phone calls to Congress that resulted from our National Call-in, we reached approximately 300 Members of Congress.
On Tuesday, March 18, it will be time to see if “the proof is in the pudding!” We will launch an Action Alert that lists all of the Senators and Representatives who have signed the letters to date. The Alert will then connect you to an email system that will generate a thank you letter for you if your Member(s) have signed the letter and a “please sign the letter” if they have not yet done so.
Remember, follow up is the chariot of genius! Please remember to follow-up with your Member of Congress so that they know that pancreatic cancer is important to you and should be important to them as well! They will be home from Monday, March 17 thru Friday, March 28 for the Spring Recess, so it will be a perfect opportunity to follow-up!
Our 2009 Pancreatic Cancer Advocacy Day will be March 29-31, 2009. The event will be held at the Marriott Hotel in Washington, DC. Registration opens November 2008, so please save the date!
