bequests and planned gifts
Legacy gifts enable you to make a lasting contribution to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at a level you may not have been able to achieve during your lifetime. Naming the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network as a beneficiary in a Will or Living Trust, Insurance Policy or IRA/Retirement Plan are common examples of legacy gifts.
Another planned giving option allows donors to support the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and receive tax relief by leveraging certain kind of appreciated assets, such as stock. Charitable Remainder Trusts and Charitable Lead Trusts are two examples of this kind of planned gift.
Please keep in mind that the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is not engaged in rendering legal or tax advisory services and that advice from legal counsel, such as an attorney or other professional advisor, should be sought when considering these types of gifts. The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will be happy to work with your advisor to ensure that your gift will have the greatest possible impact on our quest to defeat pancreatic cancer.
“My grandmother was an astute businesswoman. She owned a salon for decades, and she invested her savings wisely. Despite having no financial degrees or training, she had managed her money well and already had a living trust set up to manage all her assets and property. When she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at age 63, she decided to make me her trustee. She knew of a couple friends who had suffered from the same disease, so she immediately told me about the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and how she wanted to make a significant contribution to their cause. Knowing my grandmother, I knew her actions would not be negligible. She elected to name the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network as the beneficiary of her trust because she knew her donation would be put towards raising a cure for future generations. I'm so proud of her, and I'm honored that her legacy will live on through the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network's mission to create real hope for everyone affected by this disease.”
