“I feel strongly that it's my mission to be an advocate, a voice, because so many pancreatic cancer patients don't get the opportunity to do so. So many wonderful people have come into my life, whom I never would have met otherwise. It fills my heart with joy when new volunteers say ‘I want to become part of this group, and make a difference, like you are!’ Our affiliate has made an impact building awareness, fund raising, and equally important, creating a real community for survivors, families and friends.”

Introducing...the OC Community Outreach Team!

The Orange County Affiliate is excited to announce a new initiative that marks a milestone for the affiliate and Pancreatic Cancer Action Network: the OC Community Outreach Team (OC COT)!

This first-of-its-kind group offers volunteers the chance to support the affiliate’s growth and development by building relationships with sponsors, teams, and volunteers through attendance at community and business functions, especially the Irvine Chamber of Commerce. All members of the OC COT will receive training from affiliate leadership on the organization’s mission and vision, comprehensive approach, and how to cultivate and steward prospective supporters.

We’re actively seeking volunteers to join this team and help connect the affiliate to our local business community. Please contact Affiliate Chair Roberta Luna at rluna@pancanvolunteer.org for more information!

PurpleLight Orange County 2014

Orange County came together to honor, inspire and remember all those affected by pancreatic cancer at PurpleLight on October 26, 2014. Survivors, family and friends illuminated purple glow sticks as they heard their loved ones’ names read aloud, helping to light the night purple. Orange County was joined by thousands of participants at more than 45 PurpleLight events across the country, bringing solidarity, comfort and hope to the pancreatic cancer community.

Photos will be posted at www.purplelight.org when they are available.
