Survivor Story: Deborah Huet
11/15/2011
In January 2010 I came down with salmonella poisoning, a blessing in disguise. After 2 months of no improvement and the turning yellow at work in March, the doctors discovered I had Pancreatic Cancer. What a diagnosis to swallow, but from the start I never gave in and did everything the doctors said to do. I just wanted it gone and I pictured it shrinking all thru the chemo treatments and radiation until August 2010 when a talented "angel" surgeon in Wisconsin performed Whipple surgery and saved my life. My Mom and husband were my everyday angels and I had a network of family and friends who became my angels and through their prayers I survived and each day I awake, I smile that I have made it another day. There is hope, there is awareness building and I pray that one day there will be an early detection and treatment that will save more people. I am humbled to be able to tell my story and hope that many read this and reach out to anyone suffering with this disease and volunteer - Be a Hero !!
