After crossing the finish line at the Chicago Marathon, I limped over to my dad who had tears in his eyes and gave him the strongest hug I could. Soon after we found my mom in the crowd who came running over to me cheering and screaming and all I could think about was, “I’m so lucky to have both my parents here to celebrate with me.” That’s why I ran, so that more children can celebrate with both of their parents for as long as possible. 26.2 miles was totally worth that!
-Lindsay Segenreich, Chicago Marathon 2009
I never liked to run until I began my training. I can honestly say that choosing the Miami Half Marathon for my first race proved to be one of the best experiences of my life. I hope to run many more half marathons and eventually a full. Participating in the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Marathon TEAMHOPE® was the challenge I needed to get started and stay with the training. Now I actually enjoy running. And it was all for the fight against pancreatic cancer!
-Natalie Radtke, Miami Half-Marathon 2010
I felt so proud after running with TEAMHOPE at the Miami Half Marathon in January 2009 that I signed up to run with the team again in June 2009 at the Kona Half Marathon. I knew with each mile I ran, I was bringing much-needed awareness to this devastating disease and creating hope for the entire pancreatic cancer community. I never thought I would run a half marathon, let alone two within six months. I hope to eventually run a full marathon with TEAMHOPE!

I just finished my first half marathon with TEAMHOPE®. When I first started training, everyone thought I was crazy (and so did I!) but I knew that running for something that was near and dear to me would help push me to the finish line. My aunt was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer when she was 49 By the time they found it, the cancer had already spread throughout her body. Watching her go through this was extremely difficult, especially knowing we couldn't do anything to help. TEAMHOPE provided a chance to do something to combat this horrible disease. I was able to raise twice my fundraising goal and with each step I took I thought about my aunt proudly looking down on me, and about everyone that supported me in my efforts. Right before the 11 mile mark, when I was ready to give up, someone screamed "Go TEAMHOPE" and that was the little boost I needed to get myself up that hill! It was truly an amazing journey and I learned so much about myself while raising money for a great cause! I loved it, through the pain and the craziness, I knew I was doing something wonderful and finally had my opportunity to make a difference!
