“I feel strongly that it's my mission to be an advocate, a voice, because so many pancreatic cancer patients don't get the opportunity to do so. So many wonderful people have come into my life, whom I never would have met otherwise. It fills my heart with joy when new volunteers say ‘I want to become part of this group, and make a difference, like you are!’ Our affiliate has made an impact building awareness, fund raising, and equally important, creating a real community for survivors, families and friends.”

Local Highlights

PurpleLight Baltimore 2013

Baltimore went purple on October 27, 2013 for PurpleLight National Vigil for Hope. Family and friends of those touched by pancreatic cancer came together to gain both comfort and encouragement by illuminating purple glow sticks as they heard their loved ones’ names read aloud. Joined by nearly 20,000 participants in more than 80 communities across the country, this marked the largest participation in PurpleLight history and helped kick off National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.

Photos will be posted at www.purplelight.org when they are available.

PurpleSwim Baltimore 2013

PurpleSwim Baltimore 2013 was a great success! We had 234 participants, 16 teams, and more than 30 volunteers join us on Sunday, August 4. Together we were able to raise $41,000 for the fight against pancreatic cancer.

We couldn't have done it without the support of all of our participants, volunteers, team captains, and sponsors. Thank you!

PurpleStride Maryland 2014

PurpleStride Maryland 2014 was a wonderful and inspiring day! This year's 5K run and family-friendly walk was hosted at Community College of Baltimore County-Catonsville . Over 1,400 participants showed up to turn Baltimore purple on October 5. Together they raised more than $212,000 - and we're still counting! Needless to say, the event was a huge success!  Stay tuned here for event photos and updates!

We'd like to thank our presenting sponsor, Edward J. Friedman Foundation, Inc., whose support truly made an impact in the success of this event.
