August marks the start-up of registration for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s fall PurpleLight events, being held in some 60 locations across the country this year on October 26. An additional 20 to 25 PurpleLight events will take place on March 1, 2015, paving the way for the pancreatic cancer community to promote awareness and sustain engagement year-round through PurpleLight gatherings and PurpleStride 5K run/walks.
PurpleLight events are gatherings of individuals who have been affected by pancreatic cancer. Survivors, their families and friends, and those who have lost loved ones come together to honor survivors, inspire hope for everyone touched by pancreatic cancer and remember those who have passed. An important part of every PurpleLight gathering is the sharing of personal stories and the illumination of purple glow sticks as the names of those lost are read aloud.
Last fall, more than 80 locations across the country hosted PurpleLight events, creating a sense of community and shining a light on the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s mission to double survival by 2020.
Some registration websites for the October 26 PurpleLight events are open now, and more will be launching in the coming weeks. Check www.purplelight.org for more information. Join others in your community to honor, inspire and remember at PurpleLight!
