Road Scholar Transport

Road Scholar Transport has joined the fight against pancreatic cancer by painting one of their trucks purple with information about our cause and organization as part of the Road Scholar Awareness Campaign – which was created to bring attention to the afflictions that touch the lives of many people. The purple Road Scholar truck will travel across the country bringing attention to the disease and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Thank you to Road Scholar and their client Tempur-Pedic for their collaborative effort in developing the purple awareness truck.

About Road Scholar Transport
Road Scholar is an asset based motor freight company based out of Scranton, PA with terminals throughout the Northeastern United States. They specialize in Truckload and LTL freight as well as Auto Hauling, Temperature Protect Service, Expedite, and High Security shipping. Road Scholar Transport was established in 1988 by Jim Barrett and his wife Debra. Jim leased a used tractor trailer and served as the sole driver for the company while Debra acted as dispatcher. Jim had experience in the trucking industry since he first gained this interest at the age of 16 when he began washing trucks after school. He worked his way through college and obtained a position in sales at the same company for which he worked for since the age of 16. When he left this company to start his own in 1988 he was vice president of sales. Today, 20 years after Road Scholar hauled its first piece freight, Jim and Debra employ approximately 95 drivers out of 4 different terminals, own 95 tractors, 350 trailers and additionally employ 10 owner operators. Revenue in 1988 only amounted to a few thousand dollars. In 2007, revenues were $18,000,000.
