I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer only after having the Whipple surgery. The tumor was not showing on any CT scans or MRI. I was admitted to the ER, on January 10, 2011 and I was SEVERELY jaundiced (I had a blockage in my bile duct) and was very weak.

I was blessed to have three Godsent doctors that took my life into their hands knowing I had no insurance and no way to pay for their services. I had the surgery on January 21, 2012 and they found a 1 cm tumor on the head of my pancreas. I was released on January 29, 2012 to start recovering and to begin chemotherapy and 28 daily radiation treatments which lasted through October 31, 2012.

As of today, August 8, 2014, I am still cancer free. Thanks to God and all the ones he sent into my life, and a special Thank You to my precious husband Darrell who was and still is my caregiver. I would have never made it without The Lord and him. I’m walking three miles every day. I still have issues with the digestive part and have to take pancreatic enzymes before each meal and snacks. You learn to eat by trial and error. But, overall I’m blessed. Be encouraged…there’s always hope!
