PurpleStride®, the walk to end pancreatic cancer, moved up a spot on the Peer-to-Peer Forum’s annual “Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Thirty” list for 2019, placing at no. 29. PurpleStride made the list for the second consecutive year. American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association and American Heart Association are among other major organizations in the top 30.
“Inclusion of PurpleStride on the Peer-to-Peer ‘Fundraising Thirty’ list along with other large nonprofits is a coveted and distinguished honor,” said Wendy Moran, director of community engagement for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN). “PurpleStride moving up to #29 this year is a testament to the passion, dedication and tireless work of all our amazing volunteers and staff.”
In FY18, PanCAN community events raised more than 14.9 million. There were also more than 84,400 PurpleStride participants nationwide. Funds raised through the event support pancreatic cancer research, clinical initiatives and patient services including Know Your Tumor®, Precision PromiseSM, Clinical Trial Finder and the Patient Registry.
PanCAN currently hosts 57 PurpleStride events across the country every year. The signature fundraising event was established in 2007.
Over $116 million has been raised for the cause through community events from 2008 to 2018.
According to Charity Dynamics, who sponsors the Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Thirty survey, the results are based on survey responses from the professionals who manage major athletic events and peer-to-peer fundraising programs and publicly available data.
