PanCAN PurpleStride New York City welcomes Just Salad as Premier Sponsor for the third year, but the PanCAN connection goes much farther back.
In 2010, Just Salad founder and CEO Nick Kenner lost his father to the disease just two months after his diagnosis, and the family pledged themselves to action.
Nick’s mother, Barbara Kenner, PhD, founded the Kenner Family Research Fund in 2013, with the vision of advancing early detection of pancreatic cancer to improve survival. Dr. Kenner is a member of PanCAN’s Board of Directors.

Just Salad, committed to making everyday health and sustainability possible, has grown to nearly 100 locations in the eastern and midwestern parts of the U.S. Nick’s vision and dedication extends to his continued support of PanCAN and PurpleStride. During Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month in 2019, Just Salad featured a signature salad as part of a cause marketing campaign to benefit PanCAN. And Just Salad has been Premier Sponsor for PurpleStride NYC since 2023.
Over the years, Nick has seen the community unite and grow. And he’s looking forward to being out there with everyone on April 26.
“The crowds keep getting bigger, more funds are being raised and the community feels more energetic every year,” Nick said. “It’s an inspiration.”
And what keeps him connected?
“Pancreatic cancer needs more focus and funding. I want Just Salad to be a part of the PanCAN community because it really helps people who feel lost after a diagnosis,” Nick said. “Most importantly, we want to contribute to eliminating pancreatic cancer.”
