PANCREATIC CANCER ACTION NETWORK BOARD MEMBER CYNTHIA STROUM SWORN IN TODAY AS UNITED STATES AMBASSADOR TO THE GRAND DUCHY OF LUXEMBOURG
EL SEGUNDO, CA – (December 7, 2009) – Today, Cynthia Stroum, founding chair emeritus of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Board of Directors, was sworn in as United States Ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
“On behalf of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, I congratulate Cynthia and wish her well in her new role as United States Ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg,” stated Julie Fleshman, president and CEO of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. “Cynthia has been a strong supporter of our organization since its inception in 1999 as founding Chairman of the Board of Directors. We are grateful for her passion and dedication to the organization and the pancreatic cancer community.”
In a September 12th press release announcing his latest nominees, including Ms. Stroum, President Obama said, “This impressive group of individuals brings tremendous experience in their respective fields and a dedication to serving this country, here at home and around the world. I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead.”
Ms. Stroum will continue supporting the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to increase private and federal funding to advance pancreatic cancer research in memory of her father, who died in 2001 from the disease.
