Imagine a world where pancreatic cancer is detected early, where patients are guided to the best care from the moment of diagnosis, and where discoveries move from the lab to saving lives in years, not decades. That is the future PanCAN is building – by bringing together patients, families, researchers and clinicians to transform the future of this disease.
Today, we launch our most ambitious effort yet, the $250 million All Together We Can campaign. Our vision: to make survival the expectation, not the exception, for the tens of thousands of people diagnosed with this disease every year.
Why now? Because this disease remains the deadliest major cancer and the only one with a five-year survival rate below 20%. Because patients and their loved ones deserve more time, more treatment options and more effective screening strategies. Because our community knows that when we’re united in purpose and vision, we can achieve anything — and we’re ready to take on this next chapter.
“This movement is powered by leaders like you — people who believe that bold action today can rewrite the future for patients and families,” said PanCAN President and CEO Julie Fleshman, JD, MBA. “With your support, we will move faster and push science to reach every person who needs it.”
Over the next five years, the All Together We Can campaign will invest across three pillars that form a comprehensive strategy to accelerate progress and improve survival:
Pillar #1: Accelerate Breakthrough Research
Every breakthrough begins with bold science, but science alone isn’t enough. PanCAN accelerates discoveries to directly improve patient survival and quality of life by funding leading-edge research, building shared infrastructure and ensuring that patient voices guide the work. Here are just a few examples of where we’re headed and what we’re building on through the All Together We Can campaign:
- Our newest grants program, launched in December 2025, fills a critical funding gap at a time when pancreatic cancer research has unprecedented momentum. PanCAN’s one-year Research Recovery Grants — up to $125,000 each — are designed to sustain researchers and preserve high-quality, high-potential projects that are at risk due to federal funding disruptions. We will continue to monitor the environment and opportunities for greatest impact and execute our grant program to align with the needs of the research community.
- PanCAN is completing the 1-year follow-up on 8,800+ participants in our Early Detection Initiative — a landmark study of individuals with new-onset diabetes, the most significant non-genetic risk factor for pancreatic cancer. This dataset is among the first of its kind and could help shape future national screening guidelines.
- As artificial intelligence and large data sets continue to transform the research field, PanCAN is meeting the moment. Our SPARK Health Data Platform offers scientists invaluable access to the cancer data that fuels discoveries — linking tumor profiles, clinical outcomes and patient experiences to uncover biomarkers and accelerate new drug development.
Pillar #2: Expand Patient Services
A pancreatic cancer diagnosis is overwhelming. Patients don’t have time to waste, yet too often they face a maze of disconnected systems, delayed answers and missed opportunities. PanCAN’s one-of-a-kind Patient Services program ensures that no patient walks this journey alone.
Our goal is to expand our reach so that every patient and family — no matter who they are, where they live or what barriers to care they may face — gets timely, expert support. The PanCAN Patient Services team offers the guidance needed to navigate this disease — and with your support we are poised to reach even more people:
- PanCAN’s Right Track is the gold standard for truly comprehensive support. Our highly trained, compassionate Case Managers use this framework to guide patients to the right team, the right tests and the right treatments — connecting them with biomarker testing, top specialists and clinical trial options that can improve their outcomes.
- Families facing pancreatic cancer need to see themselves in our services and materials. We will continue to reach all communities that are impacted by pancreatic cancer and we will continue to translate resources into Spanish, including through our Spanish hub and our caregiver and hospice booklets, ensuring more patients and loved ones have clear guidance. Providing resources to all patients is a key part of our commitment to advancing health equity for those impacted by pancreatic cancer. Our goal is to expand this reach.
Pillar #3: Champion a Thriving Field
No single discovery will transform pancreatic cancer. Breakthroughs happen when an entire field moves as one community — and PanCAN is the backbone of this effort. Patients and families trust us, scientists rely on us and policymakers look to us to set the agenda. Through the generosity of our donors, we plan to build even more capacity for leadership:
- PanCAN is THE driving force on Capitol Hill when it comes to advocating for pancreatic cancer research — educating Congress, protecting critical research funding and accelerating patient access to lifesaving care. Our grassroots network of advocates shape the national agenda: In February 2026, Congress passed historic federal funding increases for cancer research, thanks to PanCAN advocates and partner organizations. And the PanCAN community is already hard at work advocating for research funding in the new fiscal year.
- We convene leading scientists, clinicians and industry partners through strategic initiatives and events, like our annual Scientific Summit. By fostering collaboration through our Community for Progress, we align the field around shared priorities, tackle the most urgent challenges and accelerate discovery.
“This is the largest campaign PanCAN has ever launched — designed to deliver lasting change for patients and families,” Fleshman said. “It’s a movement to transform outcomes – now and for generations to come.”
Double Your Gift. Turn Science into Survival.
A generous donor is kicking off the All Together We Can campaign with an exciting matching gift of up to $400,000 that will DOUBLE any new or increased gifts made before June 30. That means your support will be matched dollar-for-dollar to go twice as far to fuel breakthrough research, connect more patients to lifesaving care and strengthen the field, driving progress forward.
Thank You to Our Leadership Circle
We extend our deepest gratitude to the members of our Leadership Circle, whose extraordinary generosity and early investment have helped lay the foundation for PanCAN’s historic All Together We Can campaign. As the first to pledge their support, these visionary donors are fueling progress toward our bold vision to make survival the expectation, not the exception, for patients facing this disease.
